I had to start tap 3 years ago. These were the cheapest shoes at my local dance store, so I got them, not knowing I would fall in love with tap. They are very durable shoes, as they haven't broken and the taps have stayed tight for the entire time I've had them. The outside is also made of a material that doesn't look shiny and sticky, like the little kid tap shoes you get at a non-dance store like Payless or Target, so they seem very professional. The tongue tends to move to the side, exposing the holes which can dig into the top of your foot. This is a little annoying, but can be fixed by wearing medium thin socks underneath. The only other thing I don't like is the fact that the sole is made out of a sheet of plastic I can't bend at all, unlike a shoe with a leather mid-section. This is very annoying when I try to do toe stands because I have to bend my knees and lean back more than anyone else, just to get onto my shoe. These are are great buy for beginning tappers, as they are cheaper, professional-looking, durable and fairly comfy.

Trust the reviews, not the sizing chart. At least 2 sizes too big. Had to return them.

I wouldn't recommend this shoe. It runs a bit big, get a size smaller if you do want them. My problem is mainly the tongue. It is so short that it just slides down into the side of the shoe, and is extremely uncomfortable. They're also really hard to break, and the taps don't quite reach the edges so tips don't sound right.

I orderded these, and although they arrived early and i was excited about that. but they were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to big! i had to wear two pairs of thick socks, and they were still falling off!! Im in the beginner intermediate class, and after about 3 hours of practicing, they were scratched pretty good. Im ordering a new pair today cause these are way to big:/ Dont waste your money, spend a little more, trust me, its worth it.

I purchased these because I'm an assistant dance teacher and needed them for a class of little ones. I was doing nothing difficult and was not hard on the shoes as the moves and technique were not on a difficult level. I purchased the shoes in March and they maybe lasted until mid May. The heel completely detached!! I will never purchase these again!

I had bought these shoes because my other shoes that i had the heel detached after so much wear and tear of over 2 years. so i had to get a good looking pair of tap shoes in less than 2 weeks because i had a competition to go to. they came, and although it was very fast shipping i was VERY disappointed with everything. the sizing chart says get my street size shoe. my street size shoe is an 8 1/2. i got an 8 1/2, when i tried them on they were extremely too large, in order to dance i had to put toilet paper in the front of the shoe to keep it from falling off. i needed to get about 2 or 3 sizes smaller. the comfort and durability was bad also. the shoe was uncomfy, as it dug into the back of my heels and left bruises and sores. durability was also horrible. i had my shoes for 3 weeks and the heel started falling off the shoe compared to my other pair that lasted 2+ years. not worth the money!.

I'm an semi-intermediate dancer and I got these shoes as a friend reccomended them to me. I don't like them. I feel that they are very stiff and I can't break them in. It's difficult to do wings, toe stands, and any kind of heel clicks as the shoe sticks out further than the taps. A good shoe, but I've had better.

The screw in the heel tap comes loose whenever i tap. However Discount Dance is a great company and replaced them. I have not tried the new ones. Hopefully they are nice and work.

Chicago, Il,
My daughter likes the shoes but after a year, the tap fell off. Since they are not screwed in, tough to get fixed. Need to buy a new pair.

Lake View Terrace, Ca,
Great shoes for the price but be careful with the sizing. I ordered over 12 pair for my students and the girls had to do a lot of shuffling in the sizes. The shoes definitely run big. I ordered twice so was able to correct some sizes with the second order but when all was said and done, I had two pair of shoes that didn't fit anybody. Almost every student ended up in shoes a half size smaller than her street size but they have lasted over 9 months for every student.

Great shoes! I got them in the mail today and I tried them on and they fit perfectly! I got my street shoe size. There is only one thing I can tell you that is bad about them- DON'T WEAR THEM WITH BARE FEET! I didn't put tights or socks or anything on and it gave me huge blisters on the inside of my foot. Overall, it's a great buy

These are great. I am an intermediate-advanced flatfooter (lots of stomping and fast heel-toe work) and these lasted 2 ½ years before the heel started to crack loose from the sole. No problem though, I've continued to dance in them for several months and even performed on stage with them that way, although I will probably buy new ones soon. At less than $20, that doesn't bother me at all. The taps have stayed on with all that stomping and they were super comfy from the very first use. I hardly ever slip in them. They are true to street size. The uppers still look new. And cruelty- free too; no animal skin. I convinced my classmate to try them and she loves them too. For the price, they are definitely worth a try.

Mn,
Overall these are pretty decent shoes. I guess I'm an advanced beginning tapper, and they worked well for what I had to do. After three weeks of extensive use the heel on my right shoe started breaking off, but I think I can fix it. They scuff up pretty easily, but other than that I like them.

Seattle Wa,
I bought these mainly because I'm a beginner and I didn't want to waste too much money. After reading all the great reviews I thought these shoes would last me at least a few months until I could afford better ones. yeah...they didn't even last THAT long. The ball tap came loose after a month of dancing (and keep in mind, I'm BEGINNER)and the sizing is bad. I got street size, but I'd rather have half size smaller because there's a good half inch space left and they keep falling off my feet.

Daly City,
These are good shoes for the price. I got them but I was a little surprised though. I know they are jazz tap shoes. But I pictured them differently. They will still be alright for me though, because all I do is aide for one class. But, if you just need tap shoes, then these are a little different than what you really might need.

California,
I was surprised at how sturdy they felt and how comfortable they were when I first tried them on. They're so cheap in price but the quality is great so far! I only gave them 4 stars because I haven't tapped in them a lot yet. I think you should definitely get these! Oh yeah, the size is pretty accurate. I wear between an 8 and 8.5 and the 8.5 fit great!

Tampa, Fl,
I have gone through many different tap shoes throughout my 20 years of dancing, and these have to be my favorite ones! The clarity in the sounds are amazing and the comfort is like no other. I am constantly recommending this shoe to others!

Oklahoma City, Ok,
I just got this tap shoe a couple of days before my first tap class. I was shocked at how easy it was to get used to them. The sound on these tap shoes is great! The only problem with these shoes is that they are slick when you walk. That doesn't really matter while you are tapping though, so I think these shoes are best for beginners.
